Did you know that studies have proven that clutter is linked to things like stress, procrastination, and anxiety? We did, which is why we are bringing you this informative blog on how to get rid of clutter!

Clutter removal is both satisfying and helpful to your everyday life, but the process of eliminating clutter can be daunting. Don’t worry, though, because, with this simple guide full of great tips, you will be able to get rid of clutter in no time.

Let’s get started!

Start Small

You have to start somewhere when it comes to getting rid of clutter, and completing a small and simple task like decluttering a junk drawer or hall closet is the perfect jumping-off point! If you start with a massive decluttering task like a spare bedroom that has been used for storage, you might find that you get discouraged and give up on the rest of the spaces.

So, set a timer for 10 minutes and eliminate the clutter in the small area you picked out. When the timer is up, you will feel accomplished and ready to tackle the bigger projects!

Three Piles

We love the three piles trick for getting rid of clutter. Things like memorabilia, clothing, etc., can often get piled up under the bed, in closets, or in spare rooms creating home clutter that you will most likely never need again. So, when you are clearing a room make three piles: Keep, Discard, and Donate.

Once you have made those three piles, you will get rid of the discard and donate piles and then follow up with the keep pile and organize the remaining items. Remember, the more clutter you remove, the less you will have to clean for your initial deep clean post declutter!

A Place For Everything

Job, young children, messy spouse…There are so many things that can contribute to clutter piling up in the home, and if left unchecked, mental clutter will soon follow. However, if you make it a point to return things where they belong after using them, you will find that your house will stay clutter-free longer.

For example, if you find that your countertops are always full of mail and magazines, then consider getting a specific basket that everyone knows to put the mail in. Another idea is a shoe cubby to keep the floors and entryway clear of shoes and clutter-free.
